It is about one week before Thanksgiving. My son has come home for college and all seems right with the world. Things may not always go well in my life, but you know I am loved and feel such every day I exists. Thinking the other night, I realized that as we get older, each and everyone of us may have nice things but that is just all they are. Then realizing the greatest thing in life that will never leave our sides is our memories. I had just finished watching a Tennessee Williams movie; some of the scenery was what made me think about memories on the Mississippi Delta.
Not being an expert on the Delta, I have many ancestors there in the ground and it is where my father was born. Occassionally we would take summer vacations there just to look and hear the stories of the past from my Dad. I would also frequent the Delta when I was working in Jackson to visit a customer's facility. I know what I am fixing to write sounds utterly silly, but the river speaks to me; the surrounding land speaks to me as if it is continually calling my name in my dreams.
When this all starts, I close my eyes, and I am overlooking the Mississippi River and fields of cotton. It is early in the morning and all is quiet; the mist is rising from the river. All that can be heard is a lite ripple in the water bouncing off the boats. At this point I am in the middle of river looking down witnessing little whirlpools turning in their own intricate pattern while the water flows slowing in a southernly direction. There are just too many permeating smells that I sense which are all euphoric to me. The sun is beaming warmly in little patterns through the trees on my face. I am truly in heaven.
This blog is about everything dealing with mother's, women, parents, and any subject I so choose to come up with.

Important Question?
Can a mother be a man? Yes --- in a New York minute! He can change a diaper and wipe a nose. Can a mother be a father? Yes -- a woman can put a worm on a hook just as fast as a man.
Important Questions ?
Does giving birth make you a mother? Does having a child in a relationship make you a father? On both accounts no. Just because you have a biological connection to a child makes you not a mother or a father. A real father or mother is painful, tearful, dramatic, tempered, hurt, love, hate, like, giving of one's needs totally to the point of distraction and so on. The biggest thing you can give you child doesn't come in the form of a gift. The biggest thing you can give your child is "YOUR TIME."

- This blog started as a class project, but I couldn't put it down. There is just too much information that we need as women and as parents! We shouldn't be afraid to talk about any of it!
